Should Schools Start Later?

Have you ever been tired in school? Most students are. It mainly depends on how much is going on in their life, or if they have after-school sports. High school students may even have to go to work. This affects how much sleep they receive each night. School times are beginning to start later because they think it will benefit how many hours of sleep teens obtain. Do you think they are correct? Unfortunately, this is a big topic that is still being questioned. Here is the answer: Schools should start at their current time because if you start school times later, then teens will just go to bed later, plenty of teenagers manage to stay awake for school, and a large variety of high schools already start after 8:00 A.M.
First of all, if you decide to start school later, it will not help teens get sleep. Teens will just go to bed later. According to Justin O’ Neill, a Scholastic Scope magazine writer, in his article, “Should Schools Start Later?”, he states, “There are also those who worry that if you start class later, teens will just go to bed later” (21). This messes everything up. What everyone says on both sides of the argument is equally important in the manner of speaking, but starting school later would also mess up the students’ daily routine throughout the entire school year. The students would have to go to bed later in order to wake up later, so they would not receive any extra amount of sleep. What about sports and family time? Their worlds do not revolve around homework and school. Although school should be a huge priority, they do not only go to school. The students have other lives
