In the poem “Casey at the Bat” and story “David and Goliath,” a comparison of David and Casey shows differences and similarities.
The first similarity is they both are confident.
In “Casey at the Bat” Casey is positive he can hit the ball and when the game for his team and David is confident that he can defeat Goliath with the help of God. They both had confidence when no one else did such as the crowd in “ Casey at the Bat” and the soldiers in “ David and Goliath”.
The second similarity between David and Casey is they both are eager to win.
In “Casey at the Bat” the crowd and Casey are both eager to win the baseball game because if they win he would make his team proud.
In, “David and Goliath” David was eager to win when the soldiers were too afraid to face Goliath. David even threatened Goliath and showed the Soldiers and Goliath that he was serious when he said “You’ve come out to fight me with a sword and a spear and a dagger. But I’ve come out to fight you . . . I’ll knock you down and cut off your head, and I’ll feed the bodies of the other Philistine soldiers to the birds and wild animals… The Lord always wins his battles, and he will help us defeat you.”

The last similarity between David and Goliath is they are both fearless.
Casey decided to miss the first two pitches just so he could show that he was fearless and he could beat the team they were playing
