Softball. A sport enjoyed by young girls, women, and men; involving strategy, commitment, coordination, money, and proper equipment. For some athletes softball is a lifestyle, while for others it is just a month out of their lives each year. When committing to a travel softball league there a lot more factors that yourself, as parents, and your personal superstar have to consider. On the other hand, school softball has a considerably different amount of commitments to give attention to.

In travel softball there may be different practice locations and game locations throughout the season. In my hometown of Charleston, there are at least ten different softball fields where practices and games could be held. On the topic of game locations, many double headers and tournaments are played in different towns and states. Some players get chosen to be on a team that is out of state or not in their area. Those players have to travel further to get to practices than other people who play in their own town. When an athlete chooses to play school softball, they only play for their home town. Practices are held at the school’s home field and only at their school’s home field. Home games are held on their practice field and away games are played in other towns in the same state. Hint... the “home” and “away”. Most away games are played within an hour away, so it’s not as far to travel.
