During my academic career, I have faced the reality of the excessive costs of tuition, housing, and other school-related expenses. Upon reflection, my improvidence has led me down a path of financial instability. Once I realized I lacked financial support I needed in order to continue the first college I attended, I transferred to an affordable school. After graduating college and receiving my bachelor of arts in psychology, I dealt with unemployment and countless calls from debt collectors. Since then, the burden of student loan debt has been constantly hanging over my head. Despite not being financially prepared, I rushed headlong into school because of past debt. As a nonresident I had to pay out-of-state tuition and travel expenses. In addition, I had to request aid to pay for high housing costs in Portland, and I had to wait for this aid. The school gave me an emergency loan, but I still faced struggles while temporarily living in hotels. Moreover, the school did not have on-campus housing or off-campus housing and I struggled to find housing. The situation became an overwhelming nightmare causing me stress and anxiety. I ended up going back home temporarily until there was a resolution. Since the ordeal negatively affected my overall financial aid, I was grateful to receive assistance from family for expenses, and I eventually obtained seasonal work to support myself. Due to declining health related to allergies and sleep problems, I had to take a leave of absence, but I still have a tuition balance that is unpaid. Even though I still have financial issues to resolve, I find these challenges are surmountable. Thus, it is imperative for me to find financial support and a graduate school that will support me and my
