The Proclamation of 1763-Oct. 3 1763
The end of the French and Indian war caused great celebration. The British won the war, therefore that removed several ominous barriers. In the Colonist mind, they thought about exploring the other side of the Appalachian because before that they were not allowed to go past the Appalachian. The Proclamation of 1763 abolished that idea. The British government wanted the colonist not to disturb the Indians. The colonist felt that they should be able to move freely because they would’ve fought a long hard war for nothing.

The British made acts a lot of acts concerning the colonists like the sugar act, the stamp act, the tea act and many more. All of these were guidelines the colonists had to follow. If they didn’t think they would ultimately be under arrest. Most of the acts had something to do with taxes. The stamp act, for example taxed all printed documents.. The colonist knew that the king wasn’t taxing the mainland as much as the colonist and that's what made the colonist furious. There were many other acts that the British enforced. They didn’t appreciate that they had to provide supplies and housing for the troops. This event happened in front of the old state house a group of colonist started calling the troops names and they started throwing snowballs. When all of this started to overwhelm the troops they called for backup.When the colonist started to throw rock the troops were getting mad. Captain THomas Preston kept saying “Hold your fire!” Apparently a guard heard something different and fired. That when all of the other troops started firing too.
