Throughout William Golding’s life he had many dark,and odd moments that he used for inspiration for his book, Lord of the Flies. This novel shows us how dark humans can be in desperate times. When a plane crashes leaving British schoolboys stranded on an island with no adults(Golding). Sigmund Freud, a famous psychologist, split the human personality into three parts, Id, Ego, and Superego(Sigmund Freud). In Lord of the Flies, Jack represents Id, Ralph represents Ego, and Piggy represents Superego.
Jack as Id Jack shows us many times how he can represent Id. Id is the irrational and emotional part of our mind. When the Id is too high you are uncaring for others(Structure of Mind: Freud's Id, Ego, & Superego). There are many moments of Jack only caring about himself, once when he goes hunting and lets the fire go out. Then another moment is during the meeting Jack interrupts Ralph(Golding). This shows Jack is a good fit for Id.

When your Ego is too high you rationalize everything, which means you look at both choices and do what’s best in the long run(Structure of Mind: Freud's Id, Ego, & Superego).
