3.2 – Evaluate the effectiveness of systems and processes in promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in own area of responsibility.
The use of systems and processes within my area of responsibility are; compliments and complaints procedure, house meetings, risk assessments, reviews with GP or psychiatrist, regular updates regarding the service provided. When I attend meetings with a resident it is often a multi – agency format, where all professionals involved in a resident’s life are present, it is an opportunity not only to review the service user but provide feedback to the services which offer support. The clients can open up discussions regarding personal experience, religion, culture and express choice, which promotes independence. It has been effective thus far because of the continuity of the meetings, all individuals have plenty of notice of a house meeting so they can add to the agenda or talk with the senior prior to the meeting, majority of residents attend, the topics are varied however we remain to keep the discussion open so anyone can join and say as little or as much as they like with the respect of others and in each project we like to solve problems or find solutions. This ensures a better working and living environment, good moral around the house, enables individuals to speak, listen and understand which improves communication throughout the house and good level of respect and tolerance for others.
In my area of work it is important to evaluate the effectiveness of systems and processes as it enables me to reflect on current practice, take note of my strengths and address any shortfalls or gaps which can improve knowledge and practice.
