Life is full of ups and downs and challenges that can determine people's fates in life. Arnold Spirit, Jr. is the type of guy who endures through these ups and downs and challenges in his life. In the book, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie, Arnold learns three life lessons during his high school life. He learns most whites aren’t racist, to take risk in life, and to allow people in his life.
Arnold realise that not every white person is racist. First, his basketball coach gives Arnold a chance to play on the court. Arnold was anxious to join at first because he thought he had no chance of making the team. Arnold’s coach replied “you were a good shooter,” and gives Arnold confidence to play better against Roger and dominate his frenemy, Rowdy. Roger invites Arnold to join him and his at iHop. At iHop, Arnold goes inside the restroom because he know he has not enough cash to pay for his food. After Roger comes in, Arnold confessed that he left his wallet at home. Roger say, “Man don’t sweat it. You should have said something earlier. I got you covered.” Roger was generous enough that he give Arnold forty bucks. Penelope became Arnold’s boyfriend after a long error of tries. Since Penelope became Arnold’s boyfriend, he finally has something to come back to school for. Arnold also has Penelope supporting him and helping him through his tough times. Therefore, as people enter Arnold life, his outcome was pretty fantastic.
As in the book, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie, Arnold learns his life lesson and how it affects his life. Arnold learns these three life lesson which made him successful during his high school year.
