The U.S Constitution is a written document that tells the fundamental law of the U.S Government, and gives citizens their basic rights. The U.S Constitution is the written fundamental law of the U.S government. It is the oldest written constitution is use today. It defines the principal insides of the government and their jurisdictions. The U.S Constitution gives its citizens their basic rights. It was the product of political compromise from ongoing debates.
When The U.S won their independence they put in a constitution called the Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation was weak. It let the states act as independent countries and didn’t enforce the laws the government made. The government didn’t have a lot of control over the states so they could not enforce it’s requests for things like troops or money. Most of the states even had their own currency.
Many people wrote the constitution, and they were called Delegates. They were representatives from each state except Rhode Island to amend the Articles of Confederation. The Constitutional Convention took place in the summer of 1887 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 55 men called Delegates which were representatives came from each state except for Rhode Island came.
