The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon describes the daily life struggles of Christopher John Francis Boone. A boy living with Autism and the perspective he sees the world. One main question about this book is whether Christopher can feel the love from his parents or he only accepts it as a fact. Christopher has had Autism all of his life, he lives with his dad and his mom who has supposedly passed away, saying that he has trouble showing his feelings. In the beginning of the book he finds Mrs. Shear’s dog dead in her backyard. On page eight when the police come to investigate the scene they grab Christopher very harshly away from the dog and since Christopher does not like to be touched he says “I didn’t like him touching me like this and this is when I hit him.” Telling us, the reader he does not like to be touched. …show more content…
On page sixteen there is a quote “I stepped outside. Father was standing in the corridor. He held up his right hand and spread his fingers out in a fan. I held my left hand and spread my fingers out in a fan and we made our fingers and thumbs touch each other. We do this because Father sometimes wants to give me a hug, but I do not like hugging people so we do this instead, and it means that he loves me.” This is a note worthy scene because it is the first time we read about “hand-hugging” even though it occurs in a cold prison corridor that allows little interaction it shows love in a different heartfelt
