The Deity of Winds, Aeolus
Greek Mythology is an ancient belief that Greeks believe in. Greek Mythology is the belief of gods/goddesses and titans which is more than folklore. And the cultures and traditions are more different than today’s beliefs.One of the gods in Greek Mythology is Aeolus the divine keeper of the winds.
Importance to Greek Mythology Aeolus the god of wind is called the god of wind because he controls any type of wind. “Aeolus, the king who in the Odyssey controls the winds…”(Woodard 197). Aeolus would release or keep the storm winds by the command of the higher gods( AEOLUS (Aiolos) - Greek God King of the Winds). He also controls the winds by making them soft breezes or harsh storm winds(Encyclopedia Mythica). Aeolus is essential because his role in Greek Mythology is to please the higher gods by releasing winds in the human world( AEOLUS (Aiolos) - Greek God King of the Winds).

Aeolus parents are Hippotes and Melanippe, he his also named after his father Hippotes( AEOLUS (Aiolos) - Greek God King of the Winds). “Aeolus, the king who in the Odyssey controls the winds and presides over an unusual family where, unproblematically, six sons are married to six daughters in a palace of delightful luxury;” ( Woodard 197).
