The concept of drone’s dates back to mid-1800’s when there were unmanned bomb filled balloons which were used to attack enemies in Austria. During the Vietnam war , America began using highly classified UAVs in their first scouting combat missions.. Drone usage again picked up in military missions on 9-11-2001, when terrorist attacked the twin towers and the “war on terror” began. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), otherwise known as drones, are remotely-controlled aircrafts which may be armed with missiles and bombs for attack missions. Since the "War on Terror," the United States has used drones to kill suspected terrorists in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, and other countries. Some may say that drones let America and other countries disconnect from the emotions of war and they violate international laws; However the pros of drones outweigh the cons in regards to price, physical and mental safety of troops, and the accuracy and efficiency of drone strikes.
When looking at drones, one major benefit is the physical and mental safety it provides for troops. Often when troops are deployed overseas the environment is unforgiving. Not only are there personal threats from the enemies but, environmental challenges and disease plague our troops. With the use of drones, they are launched from secure bases in allied countries near the target and controlled remotely from a safe location

Drones provide a cheaper, more efficient, and safer way to be in war and carry out military missions successfully then the world has ever seen before. Although drones have some cons, disconnection from the intimacy of war and international law, the pros heavily outweigh the cons.
