The Founding Fathers of America gave us rights which are supposed to be used for our freedom. This freedom allows us to say what we want, to be free, and to believe in what we want. What if the power that the founding fathers of America wanted us to have was misused? I think, is what is happing to us today. If you get a chance to vote, and your vote doesn’t matter, how would you feel? This is how many Americans feel, because the Electoral College decides who our president of the United States is going to be instead. The Electoral College brings many hardships and many setbacks to the President. I say that the backlash the president receives, the neglect of the will of the people, and the way our founding fathers perceived the election are three reasons the Electoral College should be eliminated. …show more content…
The five presidents who won the popular vote but lost the election were Andrew Jackson, Samuel Tilden, Grover Cleveland, Al Gore, and most recently Hilary Clinton. These victims of the Electoral College never received hate or were never bashed. You know who was? The elected presidents. Two examples of this are John Quincy Adams and Donald Trump. President Adams only stayed in office for one term. Many people liked the views of Andrew Jackson more than Adams, and even went as far to say that the appearance of Adams was strict and ruthless. Donald Trump, the 45th President, received even more hate and criticism in my opinion, because of his comments and his tweets on racial and immigration views. His behavior and attitude cause people to start an impeachment petition to try and get him out of office.
