The Tea Act

What was the Tea Act?
It was an act of the British parliament. The main principle of the tea act was to reduce the massive amount of tea held by the financially troubled East India Company. The Purpose of the act was to try to help the struggling company survive.
What was the effect of the Tea Act?
The colonists had never accepted the constitutionality of the duty on tea, and the Tea Act rekindled their opposition to it. The anger that the colonist were feeling led to the Boston Tea Party.
The Boston Tea Party
The Tea Party took place on December 16th,1773. The Boston tea party took place after the Boston Massacre. The Sons of Liberty organized the Boston Tea Party to protest the tea act that was imposed by the British Parliament.
