What I realized in this chapter is that Gracchus had an immense influence in Roman history. Tiberius Gracchus was chosen tribune. He progressed toward becoming spokesman to land reform, direct and customary measures. But instead of supporting him, the leading families considered him a revolutionary and Senatorial extremist executed Tiberius and 300 of his followers. After Tiberius died the hands of senatorial extremists, his younger brother; Gaius Gracchus took up his cause. This time, he won support of the city’s poor and moved toward becoming tribune. He picked up a great deal of support from the Equites and Italians by promising citizenship to Italians. Around then, Relations amongst representatives and equestrians were in some cases tense.
