In the book,,”To Kill a Mockingbird”, the theme of courage appears many times. This is important to the book because it shows us that you should stand up for what u believe in and doing the right thing. The characters that show courage in the novel, they are Atticus Finch, Boo Radley, and Jem Finch. Atticus Finch having the courage to stand up for a colored man named Tom Robinson. Initially Atticus was defending Tom Robinson a colored man which nobody in the town like that but “The main one is, if I didn’t i couldn’t hold my head up in town, I couldn’t even tell you or Jem not to do something again.” (Pg. 100) Having courage and putting yourself in the position to do the right thing at the right time,courage is something that Atticus strongly believes in. Another case Atticus had to shot a mad dog .Calpurnia gave Atticus a call about a mad dog down the street, and he came with Heck Tate nobody knew that Atticus has the best shot in Maycomb county, and he killed the mad dog. …show more content…
Boo radley so shy, to come out of the Radley house to save the kids she killed Bob Ewell he stabbed him with a pocket knife. Also, carrying Jem home to his father right after and he could have lost his life saving the kids whenever Bob Ewell attacked them. Boo showed courage by leaving his house for the first time, and being seen. “ I thought Atticus had come to help us and had got wore out...Why there he is,Mr.Tate, he can tell you his name...Hey Boo, I said”(pg. 362) These actions Boo Radley showed by saving their lives is important act of courage also because he never left the house and whenever the kids were in trouble he
