Parents need to know that Inside Out is an outstandingly original, (showing the ability to create interesting new things), clever, emotional, and beautifully given energy/given life; Inside Out is meant to join the ranks of Pixar's best movies; the ones that have excited us with something we've truly never seen before: Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Up. Not only is Inside Out an engaging, endlessly clever fun trip with strong themes of friendship and acceptance, but it has real possible ability to help kids and parents travel safely through the powerful emotions that come with growing up.

When a young girl named Riley is uprooted from her Midwestern (way of living) and moves to the busy and noisy and crazy San Francisco, her emotions; Anger, Sadness, Disgust, Fear, and Joy, start to disagree on how to deal with this big change, which causes problems up in Headquarters, the central living and

version of The Office, is a good counterpoint as Sadness.

Kids who might not be able to put their more and more complex feelings into words could use Riley's experiences for big picture, for example; Riley doesn't necessarily intend to be insulting (by saying the opposite of what's meant) to her parents, that's just what happens when Anger and Disgust are left in charge and can't quite figure out how Joy manages to make Riley's words come out nicely. Parents will be reminded that asking kids to put on a happy face when they don't really feel it can lead to unintended pressure and worry.

All of that isn't meant to suggest that Inside Out is overly serious or a downer. Actually, it is opposite. It's filled with moments of mild happiness/interesting thing and uncontrolled imagination, as well as warm (love of the past) for childhood innocence and
