It has become in common today to dismiss that community college is a convenient place to make your profession dreams come true. In “Two Years Are Better than Four” there is a counterargument on the values of community college. On the one hand, Mr. Perlstein argues that community college doesn’t have the same values as it had before. On the other hand, Liz Addison contends that it still matter. Addison completely disagree with Mr. Perlstein’s believes because community college is an affordable place for students with big dreams. It’s a place where the students start to understand the concept of everything around them. Addison also claims that community college still matter because it’s where the hopes and dreams starts.
Those unfamiliar with this school of thought may be interested to know that it basically boils down to that community college is an affordable place. Many students after high school decides to attend to a community colleges because is more economical than a four year college and can afford it. Majority of students that goes straight to a four year college from high school are in a bigger debt than a two year college just in their first year. The amount of money …show more content…
There’s plenty of programs that the students can get help or enjoy from. And the professors and staffs are very helpful and supportive to everyone around. In the essay it states “They offer a network of affordable future, of accessible hope, and an option to dream.” (256). Addison’s theory of community college still having matter is surely correct because it a place full of people and things that keep our hopes and dreams strong.
