P1 – Identify the Health and Safety Legislation, Regulations and Safe Working Practices applicable in a fabrication workshop
In the workplace, employers and employees alike have to conform to many legislation and regulation criteria to ensure a safe working area. In my assignment, I will determine the relevant points that a mezzanine floor manufacturer (ACE Engineering) will have to abide by, any consequences that could occur if they don’t, and how this could affect their business and the market (including their suppliers - North west Civil Engineering).

This act aims at reducing the hazards that are involved. The employer must make sure that all work equipment is suitable for use. This means maintaining it regularly. Also, they must provide instruction or training on how to safely use and maintain the equipment and what to do if something goes wrong. There must be suitable measures in place to guard the user from hazards that could arise.

This act applies to any company that owns, operates or has control over lifting equipment. This includes any company that has access to lifting machines, whether or not they own them, which are being used by the employees.
