Thomas Jefferson was born April 13th, 1743 in Shadwell, Virginia. He was the third born out of 10 other siblings. His parents are Jane Randolph Jefferson and Peter Jefferson. The mother was from a prominent family and his father was a surveyor. When he was young, he loved to play the violin and ride horseback. He entered the College of William and Mary in the 1760’s to study law. When he turned 26, Jefferson built Monticello after he inherited money from his father when he passed away. There, he worked on houses and gardens with the help of slaves and white workers. Jefferson enjoyed the “little mountain” very much that he took many notes on it. In 1772, he married Martha Wayles Skelton and had six children with only two, Martha and Mary, to live long enough into adulthood while the others passed away.
Thomas Jefferson was selected as a delegate within the Continental Congress in 1776, where he then drafted the famous Declaration of Independence that holds the reason for freedom and rights. This was one of his greatest accomplishments. He

Jefferson decided to run for a re-election in 1804 against Charles Pinckney and become victorious by 70 percent of votes. Jefferson’s’ main goal during his second term was to stay out of the Napoleonic Wars. However, after France began taunting America, Jefferson had decided to put the Embargo of 1807 into play that would close ports for foreign trade. The decision was very unpopular towards the American people and drastically hurt the economy. The act was eventually evoked and the U.S. ended up going to war with Great Britain in the year 1812. After his second term, Thomas Jefferson decided he did not want to run for a third term and James Madison took his place. His presidency term ended on March 4th,
