“If you are not hopeful and optimistic, then you just give up. You have to take the long hard look and just believe that if you are consistent, you will succeed.” - John Lewis. What John means is that, half the battle in life is believing you can do something. If you aren't looking forward to something then it probably won't end that well. If you aren't motivated then you don't show effort, and you give up. Although I have experienced hardships in my life, I remain optimistic and I look forward for the things to come. Even though tough times have come upon me, I still work hard and stay enthusiastic. Confidence is key to success, if you believe that you cannot, you will not. If you believe you can, you will. For example in the novel “The Giver” by Lois Lowry, Father is a successful member in the community. Father explains to his son Jonas reflecting on his past ceremony on twelve, he “Was pleased, but not at all surprised.” Since Father worked hard and looked forward to his future, he was not very surprised when he got his assignment in the community. I can relate because I play football. I was on the ‘B Team’, which is not the best place I would of liked to be, but I knew that if I worked hard I would be on the more honored ‘A Team’. Like I said before, if you look forward to the future and put forth effort, you will succeed. Hard work pays
