Colonial power is in direct conflict with the Native Americans in the US for hundreds of years. Colonial power committed numerous atrocities, and now, Native Americans are facing cultural genocide. One of the ways to wipe out a group of people is to suppress their voice and destroy their culture. Colonial power forced the Native Americans to go to boarding school and prohibited them from practicing their culture, speaking in their native tongue, and shamed and punished them for their native identity. However, now the young generation is started embracing their Native American identity, going back to their root and started using modern communication and social tools to talk about their roots and make their voice heard. Native American culture is a dying culture in the US. Colonial power was able to break the pipeline between the current and previous generation of the Native Americans. The Colonial power was able to create a gap and produce a generation of Native Americans who are out of touch with their native roots and know nothing about their native culture and lifestyle. Therefore, the present and future generation will not have any knowledge about their native roots. Native American culture and histories are spoken culture, not written or documented somewhere. They are encouraged to go back and find their true root. However, they are facing varies difficulties because the people they can go to does not have the knowledge they are seeking. The elder generation was forced to go to the boarding school where they were not allowed to practice their native culture and therefore they do not have the knowledge of that culture.
