Throughout the twentieth century the lives of many women were changed. In 1920 women’s groups worked to win the approval for the right to vote. The group would work together again later in the twentieth century to advocate for Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). Although the federal government felt reluctant to enforce the 1964 Civil Rights Act it brought hundreds of women to meet in 1966 that would lead to the National Organization for Women (NOW).
