What do you think of when you think of the United States economy? Capitalism, The war between Capitalism and Communism? I think of Alexander Hamilton, the Father of the modern US economy. He did so much not only for the economy but for the people too. Despite these contributions, he is one of America’s unsung heros.
Alexander was originally born in the Caribbeans but came to the US and once he got here, he immediately started on changing the course of his life. He went to college for a while before he got bored of it and decided to enlist in the Continental Army. Where he helped fellow soldiers fight for American Independance. He did this for a few years and did an amazing job and attracted the attention of General George Washington. Washington proposed that Alexander

All the while he worked with other top US officials and they tried together to solve the major debt problems the country no faced. As of now the US had decided each state had individual debts and the state itself had too pay it off. States like Virginia thrived because of the numerous plantations run in that state. Some of which belonged to people like Thomas Jefferson or George Washington. Other states like New York had issues of paying their debt because of the absolutely large amount of supplies they used in the war. Alexander became the 1st United States Treasurer and then approached congress and pleaded that the US economy would be better off if the states all took on the debt of other states and split it up so the debts could be paid off. People like Thomas Jefferson hated this idea and this became an infamous time in the history of the US economy. It was the Treasurer against Secretary of State. In the end Jefferson won the fight and Alexander's plan would not be put in place, for a light while
