In the movie The Princess Bride, directed by Rob Reiner based on the novel by William Goldman, the character Vizzini stands out the most. Vizzini is that kind of guy who works in your building and never stops talking. He thinks he is some sort of genius and therefore everyone could benefit from one of his lectures. In reality though, he is an idiot. Vizzini is an arrogant, ruthless, and idiotic little man. Vizzini is a Sicilian criminal mastermind. He is the brains behind the trio of war starters. He is short, bald, and doesn’t seem to have a lot of martial skill or physical prowess. He loves to use “inconceivable” a lot in his speech He wears fancy clothes and seems well educated so he is probably a nobleman and used to getting his way and being the smartest person around. He wears a dagger at his waist either for the purpose of killing Buttercup or …show more content…
He runs a trio of the best people in the world. In order to be successful on in his endeavors as a war starter he must be ruthless. His entire plan is for him to kidnap Buttercup and then kill her. He often threatens to fire Inigo and Fezzik because they are not acting exactly as he needs them to act. When The man in black comes after them he does not hesitate to cut the rope support Westley nor does he let Inigo and Fezzik capture him. “ [Fezzik] pick up one of those rocks, get behind a boulder, in a few minutes the man in black will come running around the bend, the minute his head is in view, hit it with the rock.” He is so ruthless he does not even let Fezzik challenge him to a proper fight. Vizzini also doesn’t even consider allowing Buttercup to live. When Fezzik challenges him saying “You never said anything about killing anyone” and “I just don't think it's right, killing an innocent girl,” Vizzini doesn’t even try to feel remorse instead he does on to bully Inigo and Fezzik.
