Why Did George Kill Lennie In Of Mice And Men

In the story of mice and men by john Steinbeck George and Lennie have a close companionship with each other. Did George really have the right to choose Lennie’s fate for him. Should he be blamed for killing Lennie since he was only doing it in good intentions. In the story Lennie did something so bad that there was a whole mob coming after him to try to get him lynched, and George thought it would be good if he killed Lennie to save him. The only question is, should George really have taken it into his own hands to shoot Lennie in the back of the head. George should not get blamed for killing Lennie, If he did not Lennie would be in a lot more trouble than death and there dream would not come true any way because of what Lennie did also Lennie did not know what he was doing when he killed Curleys wife and he does not deserve the be tortured. If George not kill Lennie then he would’ve been in a lot more trouble. Curley would’ve done a lot more stuff than just kill him. In the story he said “ But Curleys going to want to shoot him. Curleys still mad about his hand. And suppose they lock him up and strap him down and put him in a cage.”(Steinbeck 97) If George does not put him out peacefully …show more content…
“ Lennie was in a panic. His face was contorted . She screamed then, and Lennie’s other hand closed over her mouth”. He also said “I don’t want to hurt you” he said “but George will be mad if you yell” (91) Lennie does not deserve cruel punishments because he did not mean to hurt anyone and he did not know what he was doing was going to cause not only harm but death. He did not want to get in trouble by George so he did whatever he could to make Curleys wife be quiet. He only cared about not getting George mad at him so he did not think about how it could hurt her It was better off if George just did it himself. If curley got him he would either kill him or he would lock him up in a
