Animal testing along with animal rights is a worldwide problem. Billions of animals are slaughtered every year for our pleasure and our survival. What about the survival of all those animals? Do any of the researchers or scientists even see their lives with any value or do they just see them as stupid animals? Their has always been and always will be just two simple sides to this problem. The side that believes that animal testing saves humans from danger and medical suffering. The other side are the people that see the animal’s value and worth and want to save them from this form of torture. The second group of people see the same side of the situation that most see and feel that the animals deserve a chance. There are groups of people …show more content…
He quotes “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” Criticism towards many scientists has been a problem with animal protection and animals rights groups in recent years. Even early Greek scientists, such as Aristotle and Erasistratus, can be said to be animals testers. Something that early scientists discussed was the fact that animals could differ majorly from humans. They were hinting that the results from animals should be regarded from comparing to humans. Their was a preparation of sulfanilamide made in 1937 that lead to the death of over 100 humans. This preparation was not tested on animals and in result of that, some can say that if a chemical is not tested on animals then it could result in human death. It is sickening that a highly paid scientist has never been able to find out whether something is harmful to the human body without testing it on innocent animals. Their was another terrifying drug happening during the late 1950s and early 1960s. This outrage had to do with thalidomide which caused over 10,000 children spread through 46 different countries to be born with disfigurements or missing limbs. These 2 incidents were things that caused the government to allow animal testing so with that. On the other side of this, we can also understand how amazing some researchers have made their …show more content…
Nobody thinks of the factor of the cost of testing on animals. Things such as toothpaste or mascara are the nicer products tested on animals. Try to picture yourself being captured in a cage and whenever let out, random chalky substances are shoved in your mouth or all over the face. It is guaranteed nobody would enjoy or want that to happen. The utensils and creams and testing factors all have to be bought for the experiment to function correctly. Keeping the animals locked away in a cage can also become expensive because for certain test variable animals, you will have to keep them in a larger captivity. Testing on animals can grind someone’s gears by thinking of all the innocent animals that have died in vain. The scientist test on these animals to only figure out that the product is useless. Out of all the drugs passed by animal testing, 92% fail on humans immediately so why do they continue to test? “Less than 2% of human illnesses are ever seen in any animals.” Over 98% of the human diseases never even affect animals in tests that have been done. “Sex differences with the lab animals can cause contradictory results.” Animals will never have the most common illness in humans reproduced in them, which happens to be lung cancer. Can the doctors even read results? Medical drugs have been the reason for 106,000 deaths and the
