The discovery that I chose from part one is DNA. I learned the discovery offered a glimpse of the molecular mechanisms that underlie all life, paving the way for a revolution in molecular biology. I learned DNA is the building blocks of life and that chemical data shows that DNA is a long fibrous molecule. It is important to me because DNA is what is at the base of all living things including me. The insight, innovation, and persistence of James Watson, Rosalind Franklin, Francis Crick, and Maurice Wilkins led to a detailed understanding of the structure of DNA, the stuff that genes are made of. Genes are what determines hair and eye color and many of the other physical traits that make you who you are. I learned Watson and Crick's created
