School start times have been a controversial debate for many years, and it still is. School start times have been debated over, because many students aren’t getting the sleep they need. Schools should start later because teens need to get enough sleep, teens are more productive, and they are safer when driving to school. It has been shown that teens in public schools are not getting enough sleep. In the text, it states, “Teens not getting enough sleep has become so common among teens that even the CDC announces it an epidemic or a widespread public-health problem” (Orens 2). Many teens do not get the right amount of sleep. It could result in an epidemic if it keeps happening.
