Have you ever thought about switching to a year-round school schedule? Well I hope you have not and I will give you reasons why. There are many cons that come with year-round schooling. These cons include (but are not limited to) burnout, extracurricular activities, family burden, academic scores, stress, student satisfaction, expenses, and childcare. Burnout is one of the major disadvantages that year-round schooling faces. Since year-round schools do not give kids a full summer break to unplug, the teachers have to deal with rowdy kids. Since the teachers have to deal with rowdy kids, the teachers get very burned out. By the end of the year, the teachers just want to just have a break and chill. According to a report made by the “CommonWealth of Virginia” the author states that “the relationship between higher academic achievement and year round school schedule is very poor.” Which leads me to decide that instead of increasing the academic achievement actually decreases. A report made by “LamarUniversity” states “there is very little evidence that supports the idea that year round schooling helps grow children in their academic scores.” As stated by a study from “The Journal Of Urban Economics” “the amount of breaks that a single student receives is horrible for their academic achievement as well as making their score lower.” Another reason that year round schooling is not an ideal schedule is because of student satisfaction, many students from all over the world have complained about the year round school schedule. One other reason that I have to support is the learning loss and the lack of teaching. Children usually experience more learning loss from the smaller breaks that are more frequent, rather than the five month break that is
