The 1980's was not merely about fashion but also foods. There are lists of signature foods that defined the 80's such as frozen yogurt, ranch dressing dip, potato skin, pesto, and the New Coke which was a new formula from the old coke. It was much sweeter and this caused the New Coke to top the charts as the signature food. Wine coolers and tri-colored pasta salad was also very popular as it was colorful. It seemed that the more colorful the foods were, the better they tasted. For those who wanted to feel "sophisticated", there was sushi. It was initially for the "cool" elite, but by the end of the 80's it was common for the middle class to have sushi. Another food that was popular was Jell-O Pudding Pops.
