The towers fell only because of the planes that flew into them, but there are theories that states that the jet fuel melted the steel beams, and a cloud of dust, also the destruction of the lobbies are just some of many theories about 9/11 that people believe. The first claim is that there is no way the jet fuel could have burned hot enough to melt the steel beams, the fact is that jet fuel burns around 800 to 1500 degrees fahrenheit. However it is not quite hot enough to melt the beams, it is hot enough though to take key structural integrity out of the beams causing them to collapse under its own weight. People think that bombs went off inside the building right before the planes hit the buildings causing the collapse.
