Almost two years ago I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to go on a 3 day trip to New York City. As a kid it had always been a dream of mine to visit. I've listened to so many songs about the city and have fantasized about its skyscrapers and city lights. When yet another alert popped up on my phone last night, I was utterly devastated and angry that yet another tragedy had occurred. The fact that an ISIS motivated attack happened within two blocks of the One World Trade Center made my body go cold. I can picture where I was just a short time ago looking at the monuments that were made to commemorate all those who died during 9/11. Reflecting on this attack as well as the tragedy that happened in Las Vegas, I think specifically of Article 3 in the declaration, which states, “Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person”. I have heard so many of my peers and others on social media say how they're terrified of going to a movie theater, concert, or even walking on the street. Personally, I try not to be terrified, but I do wonder daily if a tragedy could strike at any second. Words cannot describe how heartbroken I am that things like this keep happening to innocent people that have the right to life, as well as cities around the world whose inhabitants have the right to feel secure. This is not a border control issue; we need to nip the problem from the original source. If the U.S. government could take action and collaborate with countries like France and the United Kingdom to abolish ISIS, attacks will cease. The difficult part of this, however, is that retailation might worsen tensions and plunge us into another war. Nevertheless, action desperately needs to be taken. Until then, I guess all we can do is try to stay
