It should be clearly noted that Joseph was evaluated on prescribed medication for ADHD. Joseph worked in such a manner that these results are considered valid, reliable samples of his skills and what can reasonably be expected from him within the educational setting at this point in time. Standardization was maintained on all assessment tools used with him. Joseph functions cognitively within the below average range (FSIQ=83, GAI=81) with slight variation with his index scores. Joseph’s auditory working memory (AWMI=106) and working memory (WMI=97) were within the average range and statistically represent his strongest skills. His quantitative reasoning skills (QRI=77) were within the upper bounds of the very low or borderline range and were deemed his weakest area. He demonstrated no relative strengths but a relative weakness when looking at his quantitative and analogical reasoning. Results indicate his medication appears to be effective by assisting him to focus on auditory tasks; however, he presents more struggles with processing visual based information (pencil and paper tasks) as evident by the statically discrepant 20 point difference between his AWMI and PSI. Joseph’s WRAT-4 standardized achievement scores with reading, reading comprehension, spelling, and math ranged within the below average to average range with word reading being the lowest. His ability to sustain attention to tasks on pencil and paper items impacted his scores. He lost his place and focus when there were a large number of items on the page and when the sentences became longer and more challenging. Overall, Joseph’s academic achievement skills appear higher than his current cognitive functioning at this
