Small needles being inserted into the skin doesn't sound fun but in the long run it can prove to be very helpful.This practice of inserting thin sterile needles into the body is known as acupuncture it dates back to ancient china were they would use this method to relieve many problems they had. Three health benefits of acupuncture are it helps with infertility , chronic pain, and mental disorders.
Acupuncture treatment has many benefits one of which is it helps with infertility. One way acupuncture helps with infertility is it increases blood flow helping to decrease chances of miscarriage. According to The American Pregnancy Association, “Acupuncture can increase blood flow to the endometrium, helping to facilitate a thick, rich lining”(American …show more content…
One way acupuncture helps with chronic pain is by numbing pain signals.Alice Park states, “doctors say the needles may release endorphins, the pleasure-inducing, painkilling chemicals that saturate the brain and numb pain signals”(Park).This quote is important to my statement because it explains how acupuncture blocks the pain and lessens the effects of chronic pain.Another way acupuncture helps with chronic pain is it is shown to reduce people's pain by fifty percent if you continue with regular treatments. Alice Park states, “participants, who started out with an average baseline pain score of 60, pain ratings fell to 30 on average for those who got acupuncture”(Park).This quote shows proof that acupuncture really does work for pain relief.The main point of this paragraph was to show how acupuncture can relieve chronic pain by blocking pain sensors.
Another benefit of acupuncture is that is has proved to help with mental disorders. Paxil combined with acupuncture has seen to be very effective in eliminating depression. HealthCMi states, “The results of this study showed that while Paxil was inarguably effective in treating mild to moderate depression, acupuncture greatly amplified the results and provided greater perceived quality of life”(HealthCMi).
