The words: ‘entirely alone she sat all day long’ implies that the old woman is fuming with anger, but she is hiding the fact that she is because she wants to take things in her own hands. You can tell when it says ‘she sits at her window all day long gazed. This links to her hiding her feelings. The word ‘gazed’ is a powerful word, the implied meaning would be as she looks steadily and intently, especially in thought and she is not showing any movement but only thinking, the word ‘gaze’ is an intransitive verb. Also the words: ‘entirely alone’ means that she is being anti-social and that she is indicating that something is confined to the specified subject i.e. her sons revenge, the word ‘alone’ is a adjective and an adverb. The phrase: ‘dreaming of her vengeance’ implies that the old woman wants revenge so bad that she’ll anything to get it, even if it means having to think all day long. The word ‘vengeance’ is a noun implying that, punishment inflicted or retribution exacted for her son’s murder. The question ‘How was she going to carry it out?’ implies that she is thinking in all sorts of ways to carry out the one thing that matters
