People are becoming more and more aware of the effects of energy drinks on teenagers. In “Ban the Buzz,” the author writes, “Students aged 11 to 14 who reported drinking energy drinks were 66 percent more likely to be hyperactive or show a lack of concentration” (Coghlan, 22). This shows a direct correlation between energy drinks and hyperactivity in young teens.
The main reason teens drink energy drinks is because of the “boost” they supposedly give. Most of the “boost” is just caused by the large amount of caffeine: “A 16-ounce energy drink may have more caffeine than two cups of coffee,” (Sifferlin, 22). This is where the term “energy” comes from, even if it is mainy caffeine.
Energy drinks can also become very addictive. Some people even “Consume 7 liters per month,” (Coghlan, 22). Anyone who drinks that much of an energy drink has a serious addiction to it.

In “Which One Could Hurt You? Answer: All Of Them,” the author writes, “Davis...drank a 16-ounce energy drink...by 3:40 pm, Davis was dead” (Olson, 6). This is only one example of deaths caused by energy drinks.
Teens are known to act more irrational after drinking energy drinks. For example, “U.S. studies found association between energy drinks...including fighting, sexual risk taking, failure to wear seatbelts” (Coghlan, 23). These high-risk behaviors could change someone’s life
