Which would require at least four years of college. A registered nurse performs a wide variety of job duties. A nurse will care for a patient. Hey nurse me educate a patient. Most of the nation's 2.7 million nurses work in medical and surgical hospital environment. The rest work in doctors offices, home health care in nursing care facilities,along with government agencies, support services and educational services.
