The Blind Side
The movie I chose was the Blind Side. The Blind side is a 2009 American semi-biographical drama film written and directed by John Lee Hancock. It was based on the 2006 book. The blind side was based on the real life story about Micheal Oher. He was an African American football player and his struggles from being an abandoned kid growing up in a foster home to now a NFL (National Football League) player after being adopted by an amazing family. What makes Michael story such an amazing story is the fact that it tells the true life story of a boy with nothing but ends up with everything; It is a film about human relationships, the need to reach out to the ones less fortunate, but most importantly, it's a film about believing in oneself and following one’s convictions even when the whole world might be against you. When you watch this movie you can digest it well enough for one to realize that it tackles something simple, something that everyone is most familiar to and that is love and family. It is something that so many young kids have a problem with in today’s world and that is love and affection. This is something that everybody needs but not everybody gets.
Homeless and traumatized, Michael “Big Mike” Oher was absorbed in Wingate Christian School and through the help of his friend’s father who talked to Burt Cotton, the coach of the school. Michael never really had a home and someone to pick him up from school or anything like that. After learning that he had no place to stay he was just homeless and was just going to attend to spend the night outside the school gym. That is when one of her daughter’s classmates, Leigh Anne offered him, wearing shorts and a t-shirt in the dead of winter when it’s also to spend the night in their house. Michael at the time has been in foster care with different families throughout Memphis, Tennessee area. He was considered a runaway but most of the time the homes they had him at he either didn’t like or just didn’t feel home there, that’s how the state called him basically a runaway. Michael later on in the story started to getting comfortable with the family, he felt like he had a home that’s when he asked to spend the holiday with Leigh Anne and her family. He slowly became a part of the family tree. That’s when bad things around the town and the school started forming but that didn’t stop Michael or the family. Leigh Anne’s rich friends were wondering what she was doing and much more bothered them of the reason why she was doing it. Apparently, they were protesting against the fact that Leigh Anne sought for being Michael’s legal guardian. The people didn’t want that to happen what’s so ever.
As Leigh Anne continued ascertaining more about Michael’s identity, she
