Dear Book Club Members,

I am reading Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It is a fictional piece that is takes place in a more futuristic time, where the Government (capitol) controls all the districts and these districts are different places where people live and each district represents certain job, like district 12 is all coal mining, district 3 electronics, and district 8 textiles. I selected this book because it is a great book because it has a lot of suspense and action which I love because it makes me always want to know what’s coming next!

There are two main characters in the book are Katniss Everdeen and peter Mellark, but the main one is Katniss who is the narrator and the main protagonist. And Katniss is a very brave girl, she is 16 years old and she lives in district 12 where her mother doesn’t really do anything for her and her sister, so Katniss provides for the family and she does that by hunting. Katniss is an excellent hunter which helps her very much when she gets in the games.

Once Katniss gets in the games the only thing that’s drives her on really trying to win is her sister because her sister is her life and she’ll do anything to have her sister live a good life, and that is her main of her weaknesses to because shell give up or do anything for her sister. But other than that Katniss is a very tough intellectual and no one can break her.

The author describes Katniss Everdeen as a young woman that provides for her family and she never does anything for herself, and she has a big crush on a good friend who’s name is Gale who she met in the woods when she was 12 and they have been hitting it off since then. She was also described almost as a misfit because she doesn’t like following the capitols rules and she just doesn’t thinks it’s fair at all how they treat the lower capitols compared to the higher capitols, because the other capitols bring in better products than
