The Boston Tea Party was a political protest by the Sons of Liberty in Boston, Massachusetts, on December 16, 1773. They were protesting against the British Parliament. The Parliament passed the Tea Act on May 10, 1773. The act allowed British East India Company Tea ownership on tea sales in the American colonies. Although the Tea Act was not intended to anger American colonists, but was meant to be a bailout policy to get the British East India Company out of debt, it was the final straw in a series of unpopular policies and taxes imposed by Britain on their American colonies. These actions ignited a powder keg of conflict and resentment among American colonists and the catalyst of the Boston Tea Party. So on the night of December 16, 1772
