“The saddest sight these days is the image of hundreds of thousands of children kidnapped and lured into being child soldiers from the age of eight. ~Sir Roger Moore~ I have learned about an issue that is affecting people or the ex-child soldiers. People have been debating if child soldiers are victims or predators. Child soldiers are being blamed for being in the war and killing people. Child soldiers don’t have a say in if they are to blame for being in the war. The children had no option in the war so therefore are the victims and not the predators.
Some may say that the child soldiers know what they were doing and why killing innocent people. Ishmael Beah shared his experience on being a child soldier. The blood of their victims and enemies

Child soldiers are victims, because there are everlasting effects of being a child soldier that are permanently burned into their brains. Some of the effects are not are simple to get rid of they thought the children to do drugs. “He craved cocaine and marijuana so badly that he would roll a plain sheet of paper and smoke it”.(beah) This piece of evidence supports my claim by it showing that know child show have been introduced to drugs or smoking marijuana. These kids were introduced to it at ages 12 and up. A child should not be addicted to drugs or introduced to them at the least. My second supporting evidence that shows you how there were effects that affected the children involved they never got the childhood normal child would and should have. “Their childhood had gone by without their knowing, and it seemed as if his heart had frozen”.(beah)The child soldiers childhoods when by fast when they were recruited in the war. They didn’t realize that they childhood were gone and that nothing would ever be the same again. They children were doing adult stuff because they had that influence. My three and final supporting evidence is child soldiers are victims because they were forced into it. The children had no choice in joining, like my evidence will show “The officers fired a few rounds into the air to get the soldiers to stop, but they didn’t then, they would part them by force”. (beah) This evidence supports my claim …show more content…
Their squad and gun are all they have left. This evidence will show you how they only trusted their squad and gun to protect them after they were taken away from their family. “His squad became his family, and he became depend on his gun it was his protector. He learned the rule was to kill or be killed”. (beah) This shows that soldiers that lost their families needed something to depend on. Their squad was like their new family and they knew that they would never see their families again. Most of the soldiers lost their families and the become very dependent on their weapons so they don’t get hurt. Now on to the second supporting evidence deals with the children were introduced to drugs and smoking. They would take more white capsules. “The combination of these drugs made them not be able to think. The idea of death didn’t come to they minds, and killing was not a problem for them”. (beah) This evidence show that they were given white caps and that they took drugs. The drugs made them forget about death and it made them be able to kill easier. They shouldn’t of been introduce to drugs and smoking. See the officers gave them the drugs and capsules so they would not think about what they were doing. Now on two the last supporting evidence of this paragraph. This evidence talks about how they did do normal things like children would they were forced to grow up quick. “they would come back after them
