Class observation (Preschool and School-age classroom)
The indoor environment consists of child-sized wood table, chairs, cabinets, and cubbies soft area including couches and cushions, staff lounge, fish tanks, a variety of plants ,birthday posts, and a lot of photos of staff, children and their families. The center separates the whole room into different sections, and each section has around three to four tables and three doors to go outside. There is a little garden area and numerous trees and other plants, which provides a lot of shades to children. Also, there are play structures and swings for children to play. Bikes and tricycles are provided. In addition, there are outdoor tables for children's outdoor group time. This center is child-oriented, and it's more like a Reggio Emilia philosophy. Every child is respected, and children can choose what they want to play. In the morning, there is a morning exercise, and it arounds 10 minutes, then children are assigned into small groups, and there are different activities are provided. There are around 25 children for one class, and there are 6 staff with them. After children use the table, teacher assistant uses soapy water and bleach water to clean the environment.

Also, because of the concern of safety issues, most tables are round, and the square meal tables all have corner protections. The indoor environment is separated into mobile and non-mobile areas. In the non-mobile area, there are a lot of infant toys and a diaper change station. In addition, there is a breast feeding corner, so mothers can breastfeed their children when they are available. Also, the sleeping area is besides the non-mobile areas. The mobile section consists of a reading section, which have a lot of books, and a meal table, which is for older infants to have their snack and lunches. The food table is right beside the meal table, so teachers can cut fruit and prepare snack for children. The floor is covered with carpets, so infants can crawl on the floor. In the classroom, there are around 15 infants and 4 teachers in the classroom. There is an observation window, so babies can feel secure and safe, otherwise when the strangers come into the classroom, they tend to be nervous. I noticed that on the wall there are a lot of infants' art work, and there are no pins, but only strings to hang these art work.
