I am interested in the United States Coast Guard Academy because I want to make a contribution to serve my country and humanity. I started this by volunteering at Minnehaha Food Shelf. For the past four summers, I worked with other volunteers to keep the shelves stocked with food, keep the food line moving, and keep the records straight. I’ve learned the value of helping others and the skill of multi-tasking.

When a leadership opportunity presents itself, I take action. A coach from my FRC robotics team asked a few students to mentor the FLL and FLL Jr. teams. I saw this as an opportunity to expand my leadership skills and I graciously accepted the offer. Often the members of the FLL and FLL Jr. teams would get in major disagreements. One time on the FLL Jr. team one of the team members wanted to add something to the project, but another team member did not. I have always been fascinated by boats as early as six years old; I used to draw boats. I have even gone to the Maritime museum in Duluth to explore ship design and to learn about the Coast Guard. I even designed a boat for a school project. I want to earn a degree in NA&ME so I can turn my drawings into a reality for the Coast Guards use. I attend Eastland Career Center and study Criminal Justice. I learned about military discipline, leadership and have partook physical training; which are most of the skills needed for a successful Coast Guard officer. I also studied a little engineering at eSTEM academy. I attended the AIM program to get a good idea of what Naval Architecture and Marine Engineers do and I feel this path gives me the best opportunity to do well in the NA&ME program. After I graduate from the Coast Guard Academy with a degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. I intend to use my leadership skills to follow and enforce marine codes and
