Langston Hugh’s poem “Mother to Son poem and WAK’s “If the world was mine” painting are alike because they both describe what life would be like if you turn back and give up on yourself. In the painting it shows a Mother trying to give her baby boy the world but the world looks messed up and kind of tangled up. In “Mother to son” it says if you turn back and quit life won’t be a crystal stair and if you don’t turn back life will be a crystal stair and life will bring you Joy and happiness. When the mother says life will not be a crystal stair she means that life might be hard and when she says life will be a crystal stair she means life will great and you’ll have a nice lifestyle.
