Distracted driving is dangerous and everyone needs to learn to protect themselves. Distractions can have devastating consequences that go beyond money (customwriting.org). Distracted driving is costly financially and causes physical harm. First, distracted driving can cost hundreds of dollars, leave one in debt, or completely run one out of money. The text states, "The penalty for texting while driving is a fine of $75" (Lou). This is a first offense, if someone gets caught again it is almost doubled. Distracted driving can cost a lot financially and leave a person broke. Secondly, distracted driving can cause physical harm that can lead to death. One article stated, "... distracted drivers are three times more likely to crash than any focused driver" (Karl). If someone is not focused on the road, it can cause them to crash, which can harm human bodies, break bones, bruise sculls, or dislocate arms. Anything could happen. According to Aline Holzworth, "Over 2000 people die a year due to distracted driving." Therefore, distracted driving can lead to physical harm to humans, but can also lead to death. Be safe on the road and make smart decisions, distracted driving can cost lives. Some people claim that, the convenience of double-tasking is possible. However, this is not always true because one can always get distracted. No double-tasking skills are safe and you can easily drive one off the road. A third of crashes happen from distracted driving.
