Should a dog park be built in Muscatine, Iowa? The city is considering building a dog park to allow the dog owners in the city to have a place for there dogs to run around and release their energy and exercise. The dogs can run freely in the one acre fenced area without a leash. I belive that the dog park should be built so the dogs can release their energy in this area. If the dog park is built, the dogs can run around and release all of their energy in this one acre field as they cannot fully do in the small apartment buildings located in the city. ""Apartment buildings typically have very little private yard space" and dogs are not allowed to run without a leash in the city. Without the dog park, dogs will be more likley to destory items in homes. "According to the ASPCA, dogs that dont get exersice can act out by barking and destorying things at home." Dogs need to learn to play and interact with one another. This will help with the number of dog attacks. The dog park being built will also help the city itself with people that specifically look for dog parks to be in the communities they consider moving into. "Property in the city would be in high demand since the 37% of Americans who own dogs often look for a dog park when choosing where to live." This would also help the city in other ways too such as rasing home values around the dog parks. "Dog parks have been shown to raise property values in their communities." While having a dog park is a good idea there is also problems with having the dog park being built.
