There really are no words to describe how Andrew Jackson really was back in the days. Some say he was our nations hero. Others state that he was a ruthless, cold hearted monster. I mostly agree with the fact that he is our nations hero. I mean, he did end up on the twenty dollar bill! We are starting off with the nullification of South Carolina. There had just been a new tariff that had many Southern states angry. They said that it was only benefited for the Northern states, and wanted to secede from the nation. Until, that is, they found out that they could nullify the tariff. Once Jackson had found out he became furious and sent South Carolina a note. The Indians had been moving around farther than, the actual destination the states had given them. Andrew Jackson thought this was bad, because the Indians started to kill off many American settlers. So to help for both our sakes he decided to move the Indians. He didn’t think of it as unfair actions, although many Indians did. He had stated that he if they were to stay, they had to oblige with the rules of the state. In conclusion, Andrew Jackson really was our nations hero. The letter he wrote to California, was to scare them. He probably meant every word he said, but he got them scared which made them not secede. He called out the bank in Philadelphia and caused them to shut down. That was to protect us, from thieves taking advantage of an important job. And the Indian Removal Act, or Trail of Tears. He was concerned for them. They were uncivilized and only knew how to survive in wilderness. If they were to stay they were sure to kill Americans, or they had to stay and follow our lifestyles.
