The 1600s-1700s was a time of persecution, execution, and accusation. During that era came Puritanism, which was a religious reform movement that many Puritans were practicing throughout American history. Many were accused for practicing their own set of beliefs, rather than the traditional Puritanical beliefs put forth under the rule of Henry Ⅷ. Puritans disagreed with the strict Church of England’s set of beliefs set by the King Henry of England. As a result, Pilgrims were involved in this time of disagreement and pursued freedom, with a goal to eventually flee from England to create a better nation, and escape Catholicism and Anglican demands they were forced to live by. During these times, Puritans chose to vacate England in order to flee from the monarch and church rules for reasons such as religious beliefs, reformation, and a pure society.

In the course of the seventeenth century, Puritans only could practice a certain set of religious beliefs, which was of “Roman Catholic popery.” According to the Puritans, if they practiced something other than of Catholic beliefs, they became threats and were persecuted. The Puritans

Puritans chose to leave New England in hopes for a better lifestyle and were inspired to separate from the corruptions in the church. Puritans were being accused and persecuted for their beliefs. These disputes led to the reformation of a new nation that practiced the church reformation, and freely spread the gospel in America . Puritans bravely started a new life, free from the oppressed Catholic religion and instead were free to practice their own religion as they chose.
