The fall of Roman Empire In the late fourth century, the Roman Empire collapsed after 500 years of rule as one of the greatest empire.It is considered to have “fallen” in 476, when Rome’s last emperor was deposed. According to historians, there were many reasons why the empire felt. However ,the main reasons were political instability, barbarian tribes and the rise of the Eastern Empire. The Roman Empire never created a system to determine the new emperor would be selected. The choice was always open to debate between the old emperor, the Senate, the Praetorian Guard,and the army. Gradually, The Praetorian Guard gained complete authority to choose the new emperor, who rewarded the guard who then became more influential. In 186 A. The Roman Empire had many assaults with barbarian tribes for countries, but around 300s the tribes had attack beyond the Empire's Borders. Germanic tribesmen took advantage of the civil wars and went deep into the empire. Roman cities began to build walls for protection. In the fourth century, with the creation of Hun's dynasty, the Germanic's tribes were forced to emigrate toward Roman Empire. The Roman's allowed the tribes to cross south of Danube but for their safety, the Rome's treated the tribes with cruelty. In addition , they created a dangerous enemy on their own territory. When the situation became chaotic for the tribes , they revolted and killed the Eastern Emperor Valens during the Battle of Adrianople in A.D 378.
